History

The Association for Computing Machinery (founded 1947) is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the art, science, engineering, and application of information technology. The ACM Student Chapter at Cal State LA is among the 430 operating student chapters dedicated to the ideals of the national ACM and to providing a supportive network for students. These goals are achieved by weekly general meetings, tutoring, member-led workshops, presentations from industry representatives and special events.

Cal State LA's ACM Student Chapter was originally established in 1991. The organization was resurrected during the summer of 97 with the help of John Chen and Tom Suzuki. Extensive changes were made to the original constitution to fit the new organization and its members. Initially the club started with only these two members, and now there are over 30 members and growing. Thus the CSULA ACM Student Chapter was reborn with much more determined and ambitious members than ever before!
